Funeral services for Alfred A. H. Thole of rural Carlyle will be held at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle, on Friday, April 18th, at 11 a.m. Fr. George Mauck will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

Mr. Thole died on Tuesday, April 15th, 1997, at his residence in rural Carlyle. He was 68 years old.

Born in St. Rose on Nov. 8th, 1928, he was a son of Henry and Anna VonderHaar Thole. He married Victoria Wolters on Nov. 9th, 1954, in Aviston, and she survives.

Also surviving are seven sons, Mark Thole of Carlyle, Philip Thole of Greenville, James Thole of Nashville, Tenn., Luke Thole of Greenville, Linus Thole of Breese, Paul Thole of Carlyle, and Dean Thole of Greenville; eight daughters, Geralyn Hodapp of Carlyle, Ruth Lange of Addieville, Lucy Deiters of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Victoria Buss of Oakdale, Teresa Graham of New Baden, Judy Tebbe of St. Rose, Doris Lintker of Venedy, and Lori Thole of Charleston; 27 grandchildren; and three brothers, Edmund Thole of Carlyle, Bernard Thole of Albers, and Ralph Thole of St. Rose.

He was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Thole, a brother, Louis Thole, and two sisters, Marie Wessel and Henrietta Thole.

Mr. Thole was a member of St. Mary's Church. He was a dairy farmer and a member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau and the Mid-American Dairymen Association. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Friends may call at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle on Thursday, April 17th, from 4 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 8 to 10:30 a.m.
