Aloys Zurliene, 83

Aloys "Al" Zurliene of Highland, father of Mrs. Joan Voss of Carlyle, died at Memorial Hospital in Belleville on Monday, Oct. 12th, 1998. He was 83 years old.

Born in Aviston on May 1st, 1915, he was a son of Frank and Theresa Gramann Zurliene. On April 16th, 1941, in Trenton, he married Marie Haselhorst, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Wilbert Zurliene of Louisvilie, Colo., and Jerome Zurliene of Highland; two daughters, Mrs. Voss of Carlyle and Mrs. Margaret Emig of Trenton; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Viola Brandmeyer of Damiansville.

He was preceded in death by three sons. Richard, Dennis and Leroy Zurliene; five brothers, Henry, Paul, Lawrence, Robert and Cornelius Zurliene and two sisters, Leona Richter and Rose Zurliene. The Zurlienes farmed in rural Highland since 1960.

Mr. Zurliene was a member of Trenton Coop and Madison County Farm Bureau. He also was a member of St. Paul's Church in Highland where Rev. Vincent Haselhorst and Rev. David A Peters officiated at services held there at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15th. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation is at the Spengel- [could not find the remainder of article].
