Alfred Winter, 80

Life-long Breese resident Alfred J. Winter died at St. Louis University Hospital on Thursday, Aug. 19th, 2001. He was 80 years old.

Born on Jan. 7th, 1921, in Breese, he was a son of Joseph and Nellie Winkler Winter. On May 21st, 1966, in Breese, he married Mildred Hetzel. She died March 21st, 2000.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Heinzmann of Breese and Mrs. Patricia Bezares of Warwick, N. Y.; four granchildren [sic]; two brothers, Walter Winter of California and Joe Winter of Breese and two sisters, Mauri Winter of Michigan and Johanna Schroeder of Sun City, Ariz.

Three brothers, Adolph, Arnie and August Winter and one sister, Martha Stratmann, preceded him in death.

Mr. Winter was poultry purchasing manager for Haag Foods in Breese. He was a member of Breese Knights of Columbus and Breese American Legion. He also was a member of St. Dominic's Church in Breese where services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13th. Rev. Pat Peter officiated with burial in St. Dominic-St. Augustine's cemetery in Breese.

Visitation was at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese.
