Gregor Winkeler, 74
Life-long Bartelso resident Gregor H. "George" Winkeler, 74, died at his home on Thursday, Sept. 17th, 1998.
A son of Leo and Helena Mensing Winkeler, he was born in Bartelso on July 26th, 1924. On June 1st, 1948, in St. Rose, he married Helen Holtgrave, and she survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Rick Winkeler of Bartelso and Jason Winkeler of Chicago; three daughters, Mrs. Karen Mueller of Summerfield, Mrs. Jean Kreke of Bartelso and Brenda Winkeler of Champaign; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Norbert Winkeler of Carlyle and Ervin Winkeler of Germantown and one sister, Mrs. Lucille Vandeloo of Carlyle. He was preceded in death by a sister, Roz Sautmann.
Mr. Winkeler was a retired Illinois Central Gulf Railroad employee and farmer. He was a member of the Bartelso Knights of Columbus, Young at Hearts Club and Clinton County Farm Bureau. He also was a member of St. Cecilia's Church in Bartelso where Rev. Ted Baumann officiated at services at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21st. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
