Paul Strubhart, 75

Paul F. Strubhart of Aviston died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese on Thursday, March 4th, 1999, at the age of 75 years.

Born in Aviston on Dec. 23rd, 1923, he was a son of Nickolaus and Margaret Urban Strubhart. On May 8th, 1950, in Aviston, he married Marcella R. "Marcie" Huelsmann, and she survives.

Besides his widow, survivors include four sons, Dennis "Spank" Strubhart of Aviston, Fred Strubhart of Bartelso, Richard Strubhart of Breese and David Strubhart of St. Charles, Mo.; four daughters, Mrs. Yvonne Ratermann and Mrs. Barb Detmer, both of Breese, Mrs. Theresa Maue of Mascoutah and Mrs. Karen Schroeder of Albers; 18 grandchildren; four sisters, Sister Marie Virginia Strubhart of Ripe, Mo., Mrs. Martha Altgilbers of Aviston, Mrs. Gertrude Frey of Highland and Mrs. Betty Lou Salemi of Oldsmar, Fla.; three brothers, James Strubhart of St. Petersburg, Fla., Nick Strubhart of Aviston and Thomas Strubhart of Albers.

Mr. Strubhart was preceded in death by a son, George Strubhart; one grandson, Adam Detmer and two brothers, Xavier "Sam" and Charles Strubhart.

In 1986 he retired from H.H. Hall Construction in East St. Louis. He had been a member of Carpenters Local 480 in Freeburg for 50 years. He was a past commander and chaplain of Aviston American Legion. He also was a member of St. Francis Church in Aviston where Rev. Dan Friedmann officiated at services held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 8th. Burial followed in the church.
