Vera Nettles, 87

Mrs. Vera Sophia Nettles of Mattoon, died at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center on Saturday, Aug. 25th, 2001. She was 87 years old.

Born in Irvington on July 14, 1914, she was a daughter of Oliver and Lydia Beckemeyer Hoffman. On July 12th, 1939, in St. Charles, Mo., she married Orville J. Nettles and he survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Ronald Nettles of Lovington and Robert Nettles of Mazon; one daughter, Mrs. Roxyann McKinley of Mazon; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A son, Randy Nettles and sister, Helen Corners, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Nettles was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and Eastern Star.

Services were held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at Schilling Funeral Home in Mattoon. Rev. Jack Woods officiated with burial in Dodge Grove cemetery.
