Keyesport native son George D. Kahlert died in Venice, Fla., on July 20th, 2000. He was 76 years old.

Born in Keyesport on Oct. 1st, 1923, he was a son of George and Fern DuComb Kahlert. He later married Phyllis Kahlert and she preceded him in death.

One son, George D. Kahlert, Jr., of No. Little Rock, Ark., one grandson and one brother, Philip Kahlert of O'Fallon, survive.

Mr. Kahlert was a graduate of West Point Academy and served in the U.S. Army until 1949. He was the president of Mead Insurance Co. in Dayton, Ohio.

Burial was in Carlyle cemetery.
