Killed by a Southern Train
A belated passenger train on the Southern Railroad struck a wagon at the mine crossing at New Baden at 8 o’clock last Saturday morning, in which Hugo NAGELE, Daniel MITZEL and a boy named MCCLAIN were riding. The wagon was demolished and the occupants thrown out. Mitzel died two hours later from his injuries and Nagele was so badly injured that it is feared that he will be paralyzed. McClain was also injured but is recovering. The train was late and the party thought it had gone through and were caught unawares. Coroner MORONY was notified and held an inquest over the body of Mitzel on Saturday afternoon. The coroner’s jury rendered a verdict in accordance with the above facts.
