Mrs. S. Bruemmer Buried Thursday

Mrs. Susan Bruemmer, widow of the late John B. Bruemmer, passed away at her home at 4:05 Monday afternoon. Mrs. Bruemmer, who had reached the age of 79 years, 8 months and 8 days, had been in ill health for about the past nine months and had failed more in the past week.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning at nine o'clock from St. Mary's church, Rt. Rev. Msgr. B. W. Hilgenberg officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.

Susan Bruemmer was born Sept. 22, 1869, a daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth Schaefer Ley. She was united in marriage at St. Anthony's church in St. Louis Nov. 25, 1893, with John B. Bruemmer, who passed away Nov. 5, 1933. To this union were born five children, four, Verena, Mrs. M. B. Nicholson, St. Louis; Miss Leona Bruemmer, H. A. (Arthur) Bruemmer and E. W. (Edgar) Bruemmer survive. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Myers, Mrs. Lena Hoffman and Mrs. Eva Rodermundt, St. Louis.

Mrs. Bruemmer has lived in Carlyle for 56 years since she was married to the late John B. Bruemmer. She was very active in affairs at St. Mary's Catholic church and was a member of the Altar Society. After the death of her husband in 1933 she continued to live in the same house east of the lumber yard with her daughter, Miss Leona Bruemmer, which is a teacher in the Carlyle grade school. Her two sons, Arthur and Edgar Brummer have succeeded her late husband in the operation of the Bruemmer Lumber Yard which is now in its third generation having been started by Herman Bruemmer in 1873.
