Mrs. Lena Krug Dies While at Lodge Meeting
Mrs. Lena Mary Krug, aged 60 year, wife of William H. Krug, died at eight o'clock Thursday night while attending a meeting of the Pride of Erie Rebekah Lodge, of which she was an active member, in the lodge room in the Odd Fellows building.
Mrs. Krug entered the room prior to the opening of the meeting, sat down and said, "I'm so tired this evening." Within less than five minutes she swooned away, and died seated in her chair. Dr. R. Wallace responded to a call and on his arrival he pronounced her dead. All of his efforts to revive her failed and a resuscitator was used by city employees later without results.
Death was due to an acute heart attack. Her husband said she had been working hard that day cleaning house. Following her death, the members of the lodge went home without holding the customary meeting. She was the second member of the lodge to die during the week.
Lena Mary Zimmermann, daughter of Carl and Emma Boetge Zimmermann, was born in Magdeburg, Germany, Nov 16, 1885. She came to the United States about forty years ago and joined her parents, who had located near Ferrin.
She was united in marriage to William H. Krug in the Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church in Carlyle August 20, 1929, and since then had resided in Carlyle. Her husband is employed as an engineer at the city power plant. She was a member of the Evangelical Church also the Pride of Erie Rebekah Lodge.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Herbert, of Kankakee; two grandchildren, her mother, residing near Ferrin; and two brothers, Carl Zimmermann of Ferrin and William Zimmermann of Sandoval; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Williams of St. Louis and Mrs. John Meyer of Hoffmann. Her father died October 9, 1940.
Mrs Krug was buried Monday afternoon with interment in the Carlyle cemetery. Services were held at the Immanuel Evangelical church with the Rev. W. J. Schweickhart in charge.
