Anna Marie Burkett

October 20, 1921 - March 13, 2008

Anna Marie Burkett, 86, of Mt. Zion and formerly of Carlyle, entered into rest on Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Zion.

She was born on October 20, 1921, in Plattsmouth, Cass County, Nebraska. She was the second daughter of Thomas Clifford 'Cliff' and Esther Elizabeth (nee Graham) Roberts. When she was seven years old, her family moved to Illinois, joining her maternal aunt's family who had preceded them. The family finally settled in Carlyle in the early 1940s, where Ann remained until moving to Decatur in 2004.

Ann married Ferol Chester 'Poss' Burkett on November 28, 1946, in Carlyle, and he preceded her in death on March 15, 1989.

She is survived by two sons, Terry Burkett of Decatur and Dale Burkett of Belleville; two daughters, Debby Miseles of Mt. Zion and Phyllis Drewes of Cody. Wyo.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Miseles Christjansen (Bryan), Kelly Robert Miseles, Graham Drewes and Colburn Drewes; two great grandchildren, Emily and Andrea Christjansen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Dorothy Mildred Roberts Weller of Phoenix.

She was a member of the Carlyle Methodist Church, where she was church secretary for a number of years. She served as Clinton County deputy treasurer for 17 years. She was a fifty-year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a 1939 graduate of Hillsboro High School.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 21, at the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle.

Friends may call at Zieren Day Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m., and Friday at the Church from 9 a.m. until service time.
