Joseph F. Winter

Joseph F. "Joe" Winter, 80, of Breese, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese.

He was born June 14, 1927, in Breese to Joseph and Nellie (Winkeler) Winter, Sr. and they preceded him in death. He married Mary Haake on September 26, 1956, at St. Boniface Church in Germantown and she survives in Breese.

Also surviving is a brother, Maurice (Lucy) Winter of Scott, Michigan; and sisters, Marian Winter of Kansas City, Kan. and Johanna (Emil) Schroeder of Sun Lakes, Ariz.

Also preceded in death by brothers, Victor, Adolph, August, Alfred, Arnold and Walter Winter; and a sister, Martha Strathmann.

He retired from General Motors. He was a member of St. Dominic Church and the United Auto Workers and was an avid outdoorsman and loved gardening.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Dominic Church in Breese.

Interment will follow in St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.

Moss Funeral Home in Breese handled the arrangements.
