Clinton Charles Owens, son of Oliver and Maria Gerdes H. Outhouse, was born at Huey, Illinois November 3, 1873. He died at Loup City, Nebr., January 19, 1962. He attended local schools, then began the buying and selling of livestock with his half-brother, William Houseman. In 1899 he came to Loup City where he followed the same business for over fifty years.

He was married on August 22, 1902 at Denver, Colorado, to Miss Sarah Frances Burrowes. The couple made their home in Loup City, where his wife died, Dec. 31, 1936. One daughter, Mary Margaret, born to this union, died a few days after birth. Two nieces of his wife, Dorothy and Louise Hilsabeck, later made their home with the couple.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Orpha O. Alsop, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; a nephew, his namesake, Clinton H. Houseman of Carlyle and cousins, John Gerdes of Huey, M. H. Diekemper of Carlyle and Mrs. Olivia Dierkes of Centralia.

Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City, on January 22, with Rev. Dwight Kemling in charge of the services.

Miss Meroe Owen of Loup City, Nebr. and Mrs. Olivia Dierkes of Centralia, were house guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Diekemper, Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Miss Owen is a cousin of Mr. Diekemper and Mrs. Dierkes.
