(There was an image here but we were unable to scan it.)

Mrs. Eleanor Gilmour Garner, 96; known to many older residents of Centralia as Aunt Ellen Gilmour, died at St. Mary’s hospital last night. She had been a patient there since 1936 when she fractured a hip. Her death was attributed to the infirmities of old age.

Mrs. Garner was born in Washington county January 6, 1848, to David M. and Harriet (Davis) Gilmour and was married in the early part of the century to Jesse Garner. She resided almost her entire life near Centralia, and for many years was a teacher in rural schools west of Centralia. For 21 years she was employed as a tailor and dressmaker at the S. P. Sicher Clothing store. Her only survivor is her brother, David F. Gilmour.

She was a member of the pioneer family that settled much of the land west of Centralia:

Services will be conducted April 13 at 2 p.m. at Boggs Funeral home with Rev. Irvin Smith in charge. She will be buried in the Gilmour family cemetery west of Centralia.
