Walter W. Wade, 80

Walter Warren Wade, 80, of O'Fallon and formerly of Carlyle, died on Sunday, Sept. 24th, 2006, at his residence in O'Fallon.

Born on Jan. 2nd, 1926, in Tamalco, he was the son of Albert Warren and Clara B. Duckworth Wade. He married Jean B. Sanders on April 27th, 1945, at Scott Air Force Base Chapel in Belleville, and she survives in O'Fallon.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by 2 sons, William W. Wade and of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Dennis W. Wade of Divide, Colo.; a daughter, Alice L. Beckemeyer Seibert of O'Fallon; a brothe, Marvin Wade of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren; a step grandson; six great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert Wade and Wayne Wade; and a grandson, Mark Allen Beckemeyer.

He retired in 1983 after 32 years with the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the Carlyle Christian Church, where he served as an Elder and Choir Director. He was very active and served area Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for 40 years. He received the "Silver Beaver Award" for his service to Scouting.

He was also a member of the Okaw Valley-Barber Shop Chorus and the Carlyle Men's Thursday Morning Prayer Breakfast. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Air Corp. He was a life member of Ruf-Marcham American Legion, Post 404 in Carlyle.

Graveside services were conducted at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 27th, at the Carlyle Cemetery, with Rev. Dallas Nickel and Rev. John Riggs officiating.

Military honors were performed by V.F.W. Post 3523 and American Legion Post 404 of Carlyle.

Zieren Day Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
