David L. Jansen

David L. Jansen, 69, of Germantown, died, Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese.

Mr. Jansen was born July 7, 1940, in Breese, to Henry and Theresia (Koerkenmeier) Jansen and they preceded him in death along with his stepmother, Catherine (Connelly) Jansen. He married Marilyn Beer on September 17, 1963, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown and she survives in Germantown.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Debra (Richard) Knebel of St. Rose, John (Heather) Jansen of Macungie, Pa., and Becky (Brian) Kenow of Germantown; 10 grandchildren, Adam, Alex, and Anna Knebel, Samuel, Grace, Kathryn, and Jackson Jansen, and Caroline, Sophia, and Isabella Kenow; brothers, Ralph (Dolores) Jansen of Breese, Robert (Theresa) Jansen of Breese, Francis (Gloria) Jansen of Springfield, Mo., Victor (Ruth) Jansen of Carlyle, Donald (Susan) Jansen of Maryland Heights, Mo., and James (Emma) Jansen of Breese; sisters, Eileen Detmer of Aviston and Alice Kohrs of Independence, Mo.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Raymond Beer of Germantown, Walter (Caroline) Beer of Germantown, George (JoAnn) Beer of Iuka, and Florence Beer of Mascoutah.

He was also preceded in death by sisters, Henrietta Jansen and Delores Ripperda; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Veronica (Schomaker) Beer; brothers-in-law, Alphonse Jansen, Norbert Ripperda, Louie Detmer, Ralph Kohrs, Clarence Beer and Vincent Wessling; and sisters-in-law, Marie Beer and Eleanor Wessling.

He retired in maintenance at Monterey Coal in Albers, and formerly worked as a warehouse manager at Kohnen Concrete in Germantown, and served in the Army Reserves. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church where he was in the choir, a Eucharistic Minister, server, lector, and parish council, Retired Volunteer Firefighter and Trustee of the Germantown Fire Department, Germantown Library Board, and a Germantown Cub Master.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, September 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby officiating.

Burial followed in St. Boniface cemetery.
