Lucille Rohr

Lucille Rohr, 90, of Carlyle died Wed, August 12, 2009, at the Carlyle Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Rohr was born in St. Louis, Mo. on January 29, 1919, the daughter of Anton and Josephine (Koehler) Washford. She married Paul J. Rohr on August 30, 1941, in New Athens, and he preceded her in death on December 11, 1987.

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Thorns and husband Paul of Carlyle; her twin brother, Robert Washford of Beckemeyer; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one step-great-grandchild.

She was a member of St. Mary Church in Carlyle, where she had served as a Eucharistic minister. She was the Parish School of Religion Director at St. Mary's for many years. She received her bachelors and masters degrees from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville and was a member of the S.I.U.-E Alumni Association. She had taught at St. Anthony School in Beckemeyer and retired from full-time teaching at St. Augustine School in Breese. She then substitute taught in the Carlyle area before teaching at Mater Dei High School in Breese. In her later years she did private tutoring.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, August 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating.

Burial followed at St. Mary Cemetery.

Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle handled the arrangements.
