Alida R. Vahlkamp

February 21, 1920 - July 24, 2009

Alida Rose Vahlkamp, 89, of Gilbert, Ariz. and formerly of Carlyle, died on Friday, July 24, 2009, at Odyssey Healthcare in Mesa, Ariz.

Born on February 21, 1920, she was the daughter of Arnold and Eulah Marcham. She married August (Gus) Vahlkamp on September 4, 1940, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carlyle.

Survivors include daughters, Betsy Mensing of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Gayle Thompson of Gilbert, Ariz.; sons-in-law, Stan Mensing and Charlie Miller; five grandchildren; and two great-grand-children; and a sister, Loraine (Pinky) Holcomb of Sedro-Wolley, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gus Vahlkamp; daughter, Sharon Miller; sister, Eva Springer; and son-in-law, Mark Thompson.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, August 5th and burial followed at the Valley of the Sun Memorial Park in Chandler, Ariz.
