Dorothy M. Wolters, 81, of Aviston, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Washington County Hospital in Nashville.

She was born October 31, 1927, in Damiansville, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Wiegmann) Moss. She married Otto H. Wolters on May 3, 1950, in Aviston and he survives in Aviston.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Allen) Foppe of Belleville; two grandchildren, Curt (Kei) Foppe of Yuma, Ariz. and Jill Foppe of Chicago; a greatgrandson, Luke Foppe; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley Moss of Aviston, Henrietta Beckmann of Aviston, Jean Wolters of Albers, Helen Wolters of Breese, Ray Becker of Bartelso, and Albert Becker of Germantown.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Alvin Moss and Arnold Moss; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edward Wolters, Raymond and Trudy Wolters, Edna and Otto Rosen, Bernard Wolters, Sylvia Becker, Victor Wolters, Mary Ann Becker, Wilbert and Rose Ann Wolters, Edward Beckmann, and Sally and August Barth.

Before her retirement Mrs. Wolters was a clerk at Lager and Brefeld Stores and also Zobrist Market all in Aviston. She was a member of St. Francis Parish and the Ladies Altar Sodality in Aviston.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating.

Burial followed at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston.

Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston handled the arrangements.
