Elmer X. Rensing

Elmer X. Rensing, 82, of New Baden, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at his home.

He was born May 3, 1927, in New Baden, the son of Bernard and Mary (Roedler) Rensing. He married Ella Schomaker on April 25, 1951, in Damiansville and she survives in New Baden.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Dennis (Pamela) Rensing of New Baden; three daughters, Elaine (Donald) Unland of Richmond, Va., Edna Rensing of Powhatan, Va., and Joyce (Mark) Koolhaas of Midlothian, Va.; eight grandchildren, Todd Gausepohl, Tina (Gordon) Cocke, Daniel Unland, Jamie Alvis, Jennifer Rensing, Jodie Rensing, Louis Spies and Jake Koolhaas; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Emil Rensing of New Baden; one sister, Viola Ottensmeier of Trenton; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edwin and Frieda Schomaker of New Baden and Art and Bertha Wessling of Germantown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dale Rensing; three brothers, Ben Rensing, Herman Rensing, and Joe Rensing; three sisters, Marie Rensing, Loretta Varel, and Corrine Feldman; brothers-inlaw and sisters-in-law, Eugenia Rensing, Verena Rensing, Lorene Rensing, Joe Ottensmeier, Frank Varel, Leona Rensing, Ray Feldman, Norbert Schomaker and Harry Schomaker.

Mr. Rensing was a farmer. He was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden.

A funeral mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Gene Neff officiating.

Burial followed at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden.
