Edward H. Rehkemper

Edward Henry Rehkemper, 93, of Highland, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland.

He was born April 13, 1916, in Highland, the son of Henry and Anna (Schoenefeld) Rehkemper. On September 14, 1941, he married Josephine R. Rehkemper, and she passed away January 16, 1986.

Survivors include daughters, Marilyn G. Rehkemper of Highland, Darlene A. (Herman) Zobrist of Bunker Hill, Lucille R. "Lucy" (Tom) Henrichs of Highland, and Elaine G. (James) Thurnau of Trenton; grandchild, Nicole D. (Jason) Stieglitz of Lees Summit, Mo., Jeff E. (Jennifer) Rehkemper of Greenville, Doug J. Thurnau of Monee, Geri L. (Scott) Wohltman of Wheeler, Rebecca A. "Becky" (Jeremy) Kurzinski of Charleston, Alison J. Hilmes of Highland. Heather M. Rehkemper of Highland, Carrie H. Henrichs of Highland; great-grandchildren, Jessica K. Stieglitz, Alyssa J. Rehkemper, Samantha J. Stieglitz, Dustin M. Rehkemper, Dallas E. Rehkemper; sisters, Veronica "Ronnie" Riedelberger of Highland, Josephine "Josie" Schleper of Highland, Wilhelminia "Minnie" (Paul) Uhring of Mascoutah; and a brother, Ferd (Mary) Rehkemper of Pocahontas.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by, his sisters, Regina Klosterman and Elizabeth "Betty" Holtgrave; and a son-in-law, Robert Hilmes Jr.

He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and a member of Highland Knights of Columbus --1580, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, St. Rose Men's Altar Sodality.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 15, at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose with Fr. Edward Schaefer officiating.

Burial followed in St. Rose Cemetery.

Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland handled the arrangements.
