Letha Belcher

Letha (Stark) Belcher, 90, of Carlyle, died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at her home in Carlyle.

She was born in Carlyle on May 2, 1919, the daughter of Homer and Ruhama Alice (Shepard) Bone. She married Joseph Stark on November 19, 1942, in Clayton, Mo. and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1971.

Mrs. Belcher is survived by a daughter, Janet Stark Petri of Carlyle; a son, Joe Stark and wife Trella of Bethalto; two brothers, Leroy Bone and wife Maria of Los Angeles, Calif. and Lloyd Bone of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren; five great-grandsons; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Marcella Schulte; sisters, Marie Simonton, Grace Hollingshead, Ruth Ussrey, Dorothy Niepoetter and Anita Lytle; and a brother, Harold Bone.

Mrs. Belcher was a cook the Beckemeyer Grade School for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carlyle and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking (especially pies) and being with her family.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 27, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Carlyle with Rev. Mark Goldman officiating.

Burial will follow at Beckemeyer Cemetery in Beckemeyer.

Friends may visit with the family at the First Baptist Church in Carlyle on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
