Andrew M. Fruth, Jr., 79, died at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese on April 27, 2009.
Born July 20, 1929 in Germantown, he was the son of Andrew and Ann (Hyland) Fruth; Sr. He married Patricia Warnecke in 1952 and she preceded in death. He then married Alice Lee in 1964.
Mr. Fruth was an operating engineer in the U.S. Army, and served in Korea during the Korean War. He retired from Wee Walker Shoe factory in Carlyle where he was a mechanic and electrician. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Carlyle, and more recently in Centralia; the V.F.W., American Legion, Catholic War Veterans, and the Centralia Moose. He enjoyed traveling in Texas and Mexico, and was an animal lover.
Mr. Fruth is survived by two daughters, Debra Conatser and husband Donald of Muncie, Indiana, and Gabrielle Carter of Carlyle; a son, James Fruth of Centralia; four grandchildren, Mark and Erik Conatser, and Jared and Jacob Carter; a great granddaughter, Ella Conatser; and a sister, Annabelle Gravagna and husband Tony of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia, and a sister, Margaret Jansen.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Germantown, with military honors.
Friends may call at Zieren Day Funeral Home Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
