Otto H. Arentsen, 87, of Trenton, died Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born December 25, 1921, in Damiansville, to John and Anna (Kalmer) Arentsen and they preceded him in death. He married Helen Ripperda on October 23, 1951, at St. Boniface Church in Germantown and she survives in Trenton.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Jim (Bonnie) Arentsen of Trenton, Mike (Debbie) Arentsen of Trenton, Tom (Tammy) Arentsen of Trenton, Pat (Elmer) Bugger of Troy, Mark (Sondra) Arentsen of Trenton and Brian (Friend Melodi Linton) Arentsen of Carlyle; 10 grandchildren, Maggie, Kyle, Shawn, Cory, Casie, Megan, Hannah and Noah Arentsen, Emily and Allison Bugger; and his twin brother, Vincent (Florence) Arentsen of Damiansville.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Alphons Olliges, Arnold Arentsen and Rev. Edwin Arentsen; sisters, Frances Arentsen, Sr. Mary Damian ASC and Rita Rakers; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Margaret (Gerdes) Ripperda; brothers-in-law, Aloysius Rakers and Erwin Ripperda; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Olliges and Dorothy Arentsen.
He was a general contractor and owner and operator of Arentsen Construction in Trenton for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, St. Mary Cemetery Board, St. Mary Men's Choir, honorary member of Knights of Columbus Council -- 2932, Mater Dei Fathers and Friends Club, Carpenters Local 480 Freeburg, Clinton County Baseball Hall of Fame, past president of the Trenton Chamber of Commerce and past president of Clinton County Home Builders Association.
A Funeral Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday March 3, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton. Fr. Gene Kreher officiating.
Burial followed in St. Mary Cemetery.
Moss Funeral Home in Trenton handled the arrangements.
