Vincent A. Peters

Vincent A. Peters, 80, of Carlyle, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at his residence in Carlyle.

Mr. Peters was born on January 6, 1929, in Beckemeyer, a son of John H. and Cecilia (Dieckmann) Peters. He married Ruth Seiffert on June 27, 1951, in Carlyle, and she survives in Carlyle.

He is also survived by four daughters, Susie Rakers of Pocahontas, Sandy Manfucci and husband Tony of Carlyle, Jean Martin-Altepeter and husband Dan of St. Charles, Mo. and Tina Lampe and husband Jeff of Germantown; two sons, Steve Peters and wife Nancy of Highland and Kurt Peters and wife Tara of Aviston; 12 grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Peters, Nicole Schuette and husband Jim, Emily and Elizabeth Rakers, Paige and Kyle Martin, Jessica and Larissa Peters and Jordan, Erica and Dylan Lampe; four sisters, Joann "Pete" Harper of Carlyle, Helen Leonard of Germantown, Ruth Boeser and husband Francis of St. Morgan and Margie Pollmann of Albers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Angela Peters; a sister, Agnes Lodes; and a brother, Henry "Butch" Peters.

He was a meat cutter for Kroger for over 30 years and retired from the State of Illinois as a Meat Inspector at Vandalia Prison. He also drove a school bus for Community Unit School District --1 for several years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1382 and St. Mary's Church in Carlyle where he was an usher and P.S.R. monitor. Mr. Peters was a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Army and
