Johanna C. Fuehne

Johanna C. Fuehne, 87, of Breese, entered into rest on Friday, January 23, 2009, at Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle.

She was born on January 6, 1922, in Bartelso, a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Bergmann) Winkeler. On June 26, 1946, she married Theodore Fuehne at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso, and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1971.

Mrs. Fuehne is survived by her children, James Fuehne and wife Judy of New Baden, Carol Hummert and husband Bill of Breese, Jean Brown and husband Barry of St. Louis, Mo. and Tom Fuehne and wife Cris Foshage of St. Louis; nine grandchildren, Craig Fuehne and wife Sarah, Jill Boehne and husband Klete, Lauren Fuehne, Leah Hummert, Kelly Hummert, Johanna Fuehne, Josh Hill, Jordan Hill and James Doermer; thtree great grandchildren, Alex and Claire Boehne and Elizabeth Fuehne; two sisters, Cleo Krebs of Carlyle and Marcella Clark and husband Sonny of Bartelso; and sisters-in-law, Agnes Winkeler of Bartelso and Josephine Winkeler of Germantown.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Patrick Fuehne; five brothers, Rudolph Winkeler, George Winkeler and wife Rose, Frank Winkeler, Albert Winkeler and wife Helen and Edward Winkeler and wife Helen; three sisters, Marie Winkeler and Josephine Kunkel and husband Ed, Betty Gebke and husband Isidore; and in-laws, Regis Krebs, Henry and Leona Fuehne, Bill Fuehne, Emma and Lambert Fehlker, Frances and Alphonse Toennies, Minnie and Frank Heimann, Mary and Henry Toennies, Edmund Fuehne and Clara Haake and husband Barney.

She was a member of St. Dominic's parish in Breese and was a member of the choir at church. She was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese as a central supply technician for over 20 years and was a former member of St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 26, at St. Dominic's Church in Breese.

Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle handled the arrangements.
