Elaine Walker, 84, of Carlyle died Monday, January 12, 2009, at the Carlyle Healthcare Center.

She was born in Carlyle on April 14, 1924, the daughter of L. Earl and Eva (Posey) Walker and they preceded her in death.

Ms. Walker received her bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and her master's degree from the University of Missouri. She was retired from the Human Resources Department of Stix Baer and Fuller Department Store in St. Louis, now known as Dillard's. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle and the Clinton County Historical Society.

Private services were held Thursday, January 15.

Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle handled the arrangements.
