Harold H. Hempen, 83

Harold H. Hempen, 83, of Carlyle died Monday. April 10th, 2006, at the Carlyle Healthcare Center.

Born Oct. 8th. 1922, in Carlyle, he was the son of Leo C. and Anna Meier Hempen and they preceded him in death. He married Opal Martin in the Old Courthouse in St. Louis, Mo., on Nov. 29th, 1941, and she survives.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Margaret Johnson of Carlyle and Susie McQuade of Carlyle; one son, Joe Hempen of Breese: eight grandchildren and, seven great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Hal Hempen; one sister, Eletha "Sis" Hamilton; and five brothers, Henry Hempen, Leo "Pug" Hempen, Oliver Hempen, Joe Hempen and Frank Hempen.

He served in the United States Army during W W II, serving in Italy and the Po Vally Vampaign [sic]. He was a member of St. Mary Church of Carlyle, a retired laborer, a Life Member of the Goldsmith-Terry Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3523 of Carlyle and was devoted to his family.

Funeral services will be held at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Thursday, April 12th, at 11 a.m. with Father George Mauck and the Rev. Al Simonson officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle today, Wednesday, April 12th from 4 to 8 p.m. or Thursday, April 13th from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
