Charles L. Finley

April 1, 1953 - December 8, 2008

Charles L. Finley, 55, of Troy, died Monday, December 8, 2008, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

He was born April 1, 1953, in E. St. Louis, the son of John and Janice (Stickann) Finley. On June 4, 1983, he married Linda A. (nee Fanning) Finley and she survives.

He was a member of United Methodist Church, Troy, the Masonic Lodge --355, A.F. & A.M. (Masons), Marine, former Shriner and member of the Civil War Restoration Group.

He was a 1971 graduate of Triad High School and went on to attend S.I.U.E. He operated a sandblasting and painting business, J & J Sandblasting, retiring in 1996. In retirement he volunteered at Triad School District; he was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 48 in Collinsville. He enjoyed Geneology "BIG TIME", coin collecting and cars. He had worked part time at 40 Quick Shop in Troy in retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Linda A. (nee Fanning) Finley of Troy; a son, John M. Finley of Troy; his step-mother, Loretta F. "Lorie" (nee Reynolds) Finley of Highland; brothers, John R. "Rusty" (Kathleen) Finley of Saint Jacob and Christopher L. Finley of Grantfork; a sister, Kathleen L. (Kurt) Gruner of Grantfork; and a sister-in-law, Sherry L. (Bill) Tebbe of St. Rose.

He was preceeded in death by his parents and a brother, David M. Finley.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, with Rev. Don Burroughs, of the Shiloh Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial followed at the Marine Cemetery in Marine.

Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland handled the arrangements.
