Raymond H. Tebbe

Raymond Henry Tebbe, 89, of Breese, died Friday, December 14, 2007, at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese.

He was born November 27, 1918, in St. Rose, the son of Herman and Clara (Fischer) Tebbe. On April 6, 1948, he married Edwina A. Tebbe, nee Liening, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Michael R. (Rita) Tebbe of Highland, Gerald F. (Cindy) Tebbe of Jamestown, Charles V. (Jackie) Tebbe of Highland; grandchild, Thomas G. (Staci) Tebbe of Breese, Travis J. (Lora) Tebbe of Highland, Sarah R. Tebbe of Atlanta, Ga., Stacey L. Tebbe (friend Casey Renschen) of Germantown, John M. Tebbe of Highland, Jared C. Tebbe of Highland; great-grandchild, Bryce D. Tebbe of Highland, Gavin R. Gillespie of Highland, Jensen T. Tebbe of Breese; a sister, Anna Gnaedinger of Pierron, a brother, Herman Tebbe of California; and a sister, Clara Liening of Pierron.

He was preceeded in death by his parents; two sons, Thomas H. Tebbe and Gary J. Tebbe;

brothers, Edward Tebbe, Victor Tebbe, Hugo Tebbe, Arnold Tebbe, Mike Tebbe and Walter Tebbe.

He was born in St. Rose and grew up there. He was drafted into the US Army during WW II and served in the South Pacific for 5 years. After the war, he worked in Chicago and Peoria, and then farmed with his brothers and later worked as a laborer for over 30 years, with A. H. Seebold, then C. D. Peters, in Granite City. He retired at age 60.

He loved to fishing, hunting, trapping, and gardening. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He was also a member of Men's Sodality, the Breese American Legion --252 AFL-CIO Laborer's Union --680.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose, with Fr. Ben Stern, Pastor St. Dominic Catholic Church Breese officiating.

Burial followed in St. Rose Cemetery in Breese.

Arrangements were handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
