Mary Ann Rakers

Mary Ann' Rakers, 71, of Beckemeyer, died Saturday, August 9, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville following a brief illness.

She was born in Bartelso on April 29, 1937, a daughter of Henry and Cecilia (Jansen) Becker. She married Andrew Rakers on November 27, 1956, in Bartelso, and he survives in Beckemeyer.

Also surviving are three daughters, Linda Holtgrave and .special friend Mike Haar of Beckemeyer, Sandy Jondro and husband Dave of Carlyle and Nancy Turner and husband Mark of Trenton; four sons, Dennis Rakers and wife Shelley, Tim Rakers and Rodney Rakers all of Beckemeyer and David Rakers and wife Cheryl of Aviston; a daughter-in-law Denise Rakers of Beckemeyer; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. five sisters, Johanna Haar of Breese, Florence (Paul) Dierkes of Germantown, Lucille (Frank) Kampwerth of Carlyle, Barbara (Bob) Robke of Germantown and Antoinette "Toni" (George) Litzenburg of Carlyle; five brothers, Ray Becker of Bartelso, Albert "Tossy" Becker of Germantown, Herman Becker of Carlyle, Donald Becker of Breese and Richard "Dick" (Pat) Becker of Bartelso.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark Rakers; one granddaughter, Alyssa, one great grandson, Landen; and two brothers, Bob Thien and William "Bill" Becker.

Mrs. Rakers was a secretary for Rakers Silo Company in Beckemeyer, and a cook at Central High School in Breese. She was a member of St. Anthony's Church and Ladies Sodality, The Red Hat Society, Wednesday Night Canasta Club and Beckemeyer Bunko Club, and the B.C.D.C. The joy of her life was her family, especially her grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was, celebrated on Tuesday, August 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church in Beckemeyer with Father Chuck Tuttle and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating.

Burial followed in St. Anthony Cemetery.

Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle handled the arrangements.
