Mary Louise Ratermann, 90, of Breese, died Friday, August 10, 2007, at Aviston Country-side Manor.

Mrs. Ratermann was born July 7, 1917, in Aviston, to Herman and Caroline (Kuhl) Wolters and they preceded her in death. She married Sylvester Ratermann on October 17, 1939, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston and he preceded her in death on February 27, 1986.

Surviving are her children, Mary Ellen Detmer of Breese, John Ratermann of Breese, Jane (Rich) Lappe of Breese, Leonard (Mary Ellen) Ratermann of Pierron, Carl (Yvonne) Ratermann of Breese; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Pauline) Wolters of Aviston and Ralph (Florence) Wolters of Albers; and sisters, Josephine Gunn of St. Louis and Frieda (Edwin) Schomaker of New Baden.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Detmer; a grandson, Jeff Detmer; granddaughters, Cynthia Lappe and Karen Lappe; a great-grandson, Adam Detmer; brothers, Joseph Wolters, Fritz Wolters, Otto Wolters, and Wilbert Wolters; and sisters, Dorothy Richter, Bertha Horstmann, Catherine Gress, and Cecilia Niemann.

She was retired from the laundry department at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese and a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Altar Sodality, Breese Senior Citizens.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, August 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating.

Burial followed in St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Moss Funeral Home in Breese handled the arrangements.
