Martha A. Holtgrave, 95

Martha A. Holtgrave, 95, of Breese died Saturday, June 5th, 2004, at Caring First Nursing Home in Breese.

She was born on October 18th, 1908, in Breese, the daughter of Henry and Anna Meirink Eschmann, and they preceded her in death. On November 4th, 1936, at St. Augustine Church in Breese, she married Robert W. Holtgrave, and he preceded her in death on March 26th, 1991.

Surviving are five daughters, Joan Fields of Columbia, Mary Alpiser of Lenexa, Kan., Julia Moeller of St. Louis, Mo., Ann Mohesky of Breese, and Therese Johanning of Green UP; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Kressig of Breese.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Victor Eschmann; and three sisters, Clara Pollmann, Nova Hodapp and Eleanor Eschmann.

Mrs. Holtgrave was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Breese, and charter founding board member of the Clinton County R.E.A.

A funeral mass was conducted on Tuesday, June 8th, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese, with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating.

Interment was in St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery.

Visitation was at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
