Elizabeth S. "Alice" Woltering, 81, of Aviston, died Monday, June 11,'2007 at her home.

Born November 28, 1925 in Germantown, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Schlautmann) Sprehe. She married Edward F. Woltering on November 6, 1946 at St. Boniface Church in Germantown and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1998.

She is survived by one son, Dennis (Diane) Woltering of Aviston; three daughters, Diane Kahrhoff of Aviston, Carol McKinney of Mount Vernon, and Shirley (Gary) Detmer of Breese; twelve grandchildren, one step grandson and twelve great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Joseph Sprehe of Germantown and a sister, Josephine Singler of New Baden.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by six sisters, Frances Sprehe, Johanna Sprehe, Irene Tebbe, Annie Diesen, Henrietta Diesen and Catherine Hilmes and one brother, Herman Sprehe, and two grandsons, Scott Detmer and Joseph Kahrhoff.

Mrs. Woltering was a seamstress for Lager Store and Brefeld Draperies, and had her own business making quilts. She was a member of St. Francis Parish, past president and member of American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary, and a former Girl Scout leader and adviser with Shagbark Girl Scout Council. She received the St. Anne Award.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 13, and from 8 - 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, at the Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston.

A funeral mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007, at St. Francis Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery, Aviston.

Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston was in charge of arrangements.
