Charles A. Wilken, 61

Charles A. "Charlie" Wilken, 61, of Bartelso died Saturday, Feb. 28th, 2004, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born on April 13th, 1942, in Bartelso, the son of Henry and Frances Trame Wilken, and they preceded him in death. On November 28th, 1964, at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso, he married Joyce Erlinger, and she survives.

Also surviving are a son, Brad Wilken of Belleville; two daughters, Tracy Howell of Bartelso and Lori Penwell of Broomfield, Colo.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Wilken of Trenton and David Wilken of Bartelso; and six sisters, Joanne Gawlick of Cuero, Texas, Pat Toennies of Damiansville, Barb Harshaw of Maryville, Donna Book of Trenton, Mary Kay Winkeler of Glen Carbon, and Susie Diehl of Belleville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rob Wilken.

Mr. Wilken was a correctional officer at Centralia and Southwestern Correctional Centers. He was a member of the Bartelso Catholic War Veterans, Bartelso American Legion, and a Bartelso volunteer fireman where he served as a secretary treasurer.

He was also a member of St. Cecilia-Catholic Church in Bartelso, where his funeral mass was conducted today, Wednesday, March 3rd, at 2 p.m., with Fr. Henry Fischer officiating.

Interment followed in St. Cecilia Cemetery.

Visitation was at Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
