Albin J. Goestenkors, 94

Albin J. Goestenkors of Wildwood, Mo., brother of Alma Schrage of Carlyle, died on Monday, Dec. 23rd, 2002, at Bethesda Meadow, Ellisville, Mo., at 94 years of age.

Mr. Goestenkors was born Feb. 23rd, 1908, in St. Louis, the son of Stephen and Anna Poettker Goestenkors. On April 15th, 1936, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pierron, he married Valeria J. "Fay" Potthast, and she died Sept. 30th, 1993.

He is survived by two daughters, Helen Ann Phillips of Arlington, Va., and Mary Ellen Watson of Wildwood, Mo.; one son, David F. Goestenkors of Stockton, Mo.; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alma Schrage of Carlyle and Martha Wolfersberger of Mascoutah.

Preceding him in death, besides his parents and his wife, were a son, Denis W. Goestenkors, who died Jan. 14th, 1989; a sister, Betha Schulte; and four brothers, William F., Vincent, Frank, and Edward Goestenkors.

Mr. Goestenkors was born and raised at St. Rose and in 1940 moved north of Pierron to farm. In 1994 he moved to his daughter's at Wildwood, Mo.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 28th, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pierron, with Msgr. Paul W. Sheridan, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery in Pierron.

Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland was in charge of arrangements.
