William H. Evans, 73

William Harry Evans of Glen Carbon died March 28th, 2003, in Anderson, Ill.

He was born in Glen Carbon on Nov. ?0th, 1929, the soil of Harry and Anna Modene Evans, both of whom are deceased.

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Jean Evans; three daughters, Tonya Evans of Glen Carbon, Katie Carver of Troy, and Judy Vogt of Ballwin, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Charolette Paddock and Mitilda Landers, both of Glen Carbon.

Preceding him in death were one son, Tracy Lindsey; one daughter, Betty Jean Lindsey; one sister, Edna Miller; and two brothers, Lloyd and Reese Evans.

Mr. Evans was an electronic supervisor at Granite City Steel, retiring in 1992 after 40 years of service.

The deceased was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopalian Church in Glen Carbon, the American Legion in Glen Carbon, Shriners of Carlyle; Masonic Lodge of Granite City, Eastern Star in Carlyle, and Oddfellows.

He also was a Boy Scout leader in Carlyle, a member of Good Sam Camping Club and of United Steel Workers of America Local 68.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 30th, at 7:30 p.m. at Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon, with Fr. William Davis officiating. Burial was in Grantfork Cemetery.
