Andrew J. "Andy" Lager, 72, of Albers died Saturday, May 15th, 2004, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville.

He was born on July 20th, 1931, in Albers, the son of Joseph and Lucille Baahlmann Lager, and they preceded him in death. On June 11th, 1952, in Albers, he married Marie C. Book, and she survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Nancy Bazzetta of St. Louis, Mo., Susie Brockmann of Bloomington and Peggy Fehrmann of Albers; four grandchildren; and a sister, Aurelia Wood of Trenton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Billy Brockmann and Sally Brockmann, and a brother, Cletus Lager.

Mr. Lager was a 1949 graduate of Aviston High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force and was a Korean War veteran. He was a traffic safety officer in the Traffic Safety Division at Scott Air Force Base for 30 years. He and his wife Marie owned and operated Lager Floor Covering in Albers for 22 years.

He was a member of St. Bernard Parish in Albers, American Legion Post 1026 in Albers and Catholic War Veterans Post 1780 in Carlyle.

A funeral mass was celebrated today, Wednesday, May 19th, at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church in Albers, with Rev. Louis Koehr and Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating.

Full military honors were accorded by the American Legion and Catholic War Veterans.

Visitation was at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers.
