Clifford 'Skip' Lyons, 76

Clifford H. "Skip" Lyons, 76, of Boulder died Saturday, May 8th, 2004, at his residence.

He was born on August 28th, 1927, in Sandoval, the son of Ferd and Maude Richardson Lyons, and they preceded him in death. On January 2nd, 1948, in Jeffersonville, Ind., he married Doris Lanham, and she survives.

Also surviving are six daughters, Deann Carter of Boulder, Ramona Seats of Houston, Texas, Maura Hill of Hoffman, Robin Meyer of Troy, Anita Newkirk of Carlyle, and Ruth Rakey of Trenton; three sons, Allen Lyons of Carlyle, and Robert and Chet Lyons, both of Boulder; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Edwards of Boulder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Just.

Mr. Lyons was a farmer in the Boulder area all of his life. He was a member of Laborers International Union of North America-Local --528 at Salem. He spent over 20 years working for three generations of the Christ Truck Service family in Lebanon.

He served in the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1947. He was a 47 year member of Scott Lodge --79 AF & AM in Carlyle and Ainad Shrine Temple in East St. Louis. Skip was the democratic committeeman of East Fork Township in Clinton County and had served as road commissioner for several years.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, May 10th, at 11 a.m. at the Day Funeral Home in Sandoval, with Rev. Clayton Coffey officiating.

Interment was in Pritchett Cemetery near Boulder.
