Retired Breese Township road commissioner Ralph B. Schrage, 62, of Breese, died July 31, at St. Louis University Hospital.

Born in St. Rose, Mr. Schrage was a son of Fred and Dorothea Buehne Schrage. He married Anna Catherine “Katie” Niemeyer in Breese on Oct. 5, 1949, and she survives.

In addition to his widow, survivors include his mother of Breese; four sons, Ken Schrage of Breese and Clyde, Wayne and Lloyd Schrage, all at home; five daughters, Caroline Schrage of Springfield, Peggy and Jackie Schrage, both of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Margie Wuebbles of Breese and Lisa Schrage at home; three grandchildren; four brothers, Alfred and Elmer Schrage, both of Breese, Paul Schrage of Highland and Richard Schrage of St. Rose; and five sisters, Mrs. Elsie Holtgrave of St. Rose, Mrs. Bernita Mensing and Mrs. Helen Wolters, both of Breese, Mrs. Arlene Peek of Aviston and Mrs. Bridget Zimmermann of Fairview Heights.

Mr. Schrage served as road commissioner for 18 years before his retirement in March. He was a member of Breese American Legion, Township Officials of Illinois, Clinton County Farm Bureau and St. Dominic’s Men’s Sodality.

Rev. Dan Jurek officiated at the 11:00 a.m. services held Saturday, Aug. 3rd, at St. Dominic’s Church in Breese. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Visitation was at the Moss Funeral home in Breese.
