Clara C. Schlarman, 91, of Belleville, died Thursday, July 20, at Four Fountains Nursing Center in Belleville.
Born in Germantown on March 20, 1898, she was a daughter of Henry and Catherine Aug. Schlarman.
Ms. Schlarman was a retired teacher and had taught at St. Teresa’s Academey in East St. Louis and in District 189.
Survivors include one sister, Cecele L. Schlarman, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Schlarman, both of Carlyle; nieces and nephews.
Ms. Schlarman was preceded in death by a sister, Sister Mary Joseph Schlarman, on July 16, 1989, and one brother, Joseph B. Schlarman, as well as three brothers and one sister who died in infancy.
Ms. Schlarman was a member of the St. Clair County Retired Teachers Association, Legion of Mary, Sodality of St. Henry’s Church and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Auxiliary.
Her funeral was held Monday, July 24, at 12:00 noon at St. Henry’s Church in Belleville. Rev. Bernard Voss officiated with burial in St. Mary’s cemetery, in Carlyle.
The John Barnes Funeral Home in Belleville was in charge of arrangements.
