Life-long Albers resident Raymond T. “Ray” Huegen died Dec. 14 at Scott Air Force Base Medical Center. He was 70 years old.

Born in Albers on Sept. 26, 1918, he was a son of Otto and Helen Santel Huegen. He married Alvina Albers in Germantown on Feb. 11, 1947, and she survives.

In addition to his widow, survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Donna Diekemper of Trenton; two sons, Russell and Terry Huegen, both of Albers; five grandchildren; and three brothers, Arnie, Del and Lewis Huegen, all of Albers.

Mr. Huegen was a retired employee of the Modern Foundry in Mascoutah. He was a past commander of Albers American Legion, former chapter officer of the Catholic Knights and Ladies and was a member of the Albers Commercial Club and St. Bernard’s Church in Albers.

His funeral was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at St. Bernard’s Church in Albers. Rev. Leo Reinhardt, Rev. Edward Reeb and Rev. Paul Harbaugh officiated with burial in the church cemetery.

The Hempen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
