Services were held at St. Rose Saturday, April 29, for 20-year-old Miss Diane T. Goestenkors, who died April 26, at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, of a head injury she sustained 10 days earlier.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Goestenkors, she sustained the injury at a party being held at a Clinton County tavern to celebrate her forthcoming marriage to Carl Markus of Aviston. It was reported she opened a door to the tavern basement by mistake and fell down a flight of stairs.

She and Mr. Markus were to have been married April 22.

Miss Goestenkors was born at Highland Feb. 25, 1958, the daughter of Stanley and Mary Fischer Goestenkors. She attended St. Rose Grade School and Mater Dei High School, where she graduated in 1976.

She was employed by Illini Federal Savings and Loan at Fairview Heights and was a member of the Ladies Altar Sodality of St. Rose Parish.

Survivors along with her parents are a brother, Tom, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Susan Markus and Mrs. Rosie Hollenkamp, both of Aviston; and Patricia Goestenkors at home; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goestenkors of Aviston and Mrs. Elizabeth Fischer of St. Rose.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl.

Services for Miss Goestenkors were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the St. Rose Catholic Church with Father Carl Pimeskern officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Visitation was held at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese Friday and Rosary for Miss Goestenkors was recited at the St. Rose church Friday evening.
