Funeral services for Carlyle resident Lena K. Vogel will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1st, at the First Baptist Church in Carlyle. Rev. Tom Rankin, Rev. Mike Mays and Rev. J. R. Crow will officiate with burial following in McKendree Chapel cemetery near Keyesport.

Mrs. Vogel died at Countryside Manor Nursing Home in Aviston on Friday, Aug. 25th, 2000. She was 87 years old.

A daughter of John H. and Lillie Jackson DeLay, Mrs. Vogel was born in Keyesport on June 15th, 1913. She married Gordon Vogel in Wheatfield Township on Jan. 28th 1930. He died Jan. 2nd, 1996.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Melba Rendlemann of Trenton; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were two infant sons; two sister, Opal DeLay and Jessie Wallin and five brothers, John, Earl, Bert, Elvin and Dean DeLay.

Mrs. Vogel was a cook at Lincoln School in Carbondale and later at Carlyle High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, member and past matron of the Carlyle Chapter #518 and affiliated with Sandoval Chapter 715 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday Aug. 31st, and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday, at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle.
