Fred Schmidt, 66, Dies Tuesday In Local Hospital

Fred Schmidt, 66, a resident of Breese the past forty years, died in St. Joseph Hospital here Tuesday morning at 8:45 o'clock. He had been in failing health a number of weeks and for the past three weeks was in the hospital for treatment.

Mr. Schmidt was born at Aviston February 6, 1891, son of Frank and Gertrude (Luebbers) Schmidt. He attended St. Francis School at Aviston.

He was married to Miss Cecilia Richter October 23, 1923. They have always made their home together in Breese.

Mrs. Schmidt survives, along with a daughter, Mrs. Robert Wurm, and a son, Leo Schmidt both of Breese. He also leaves a brother, Joseph Schmidt, of this city, and a grandchild.

Mr. Schmidt had been employed in the East Mine a great part of his life. He was a member of St. Augustine's Church and the Holy Name Society.

The funeral services will be held from the Moss Funeral Home Friday morning, to St. Augustine's Church, at 9:30. Interment will be in St. Dominic Cemetery.

Deceased had served in World War I, from May 10, 1918 to June 20, 1919, with the Army Infantry.
