Former Bartelso resident Alois “Al” B. Huene died Friday, Jan. 19th, 1996, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. He was 91 years old.

A son of Edward and Eugenia Grawe Huene, he was born in Bartelso on Nov. 5th, 1904. On Sept. 9th, 1933, in St. Louis, he married Helen Marcus and she survives.

Additional survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Dolores Borgelt of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, two sons, David Huene of Doravlle, Ga. and Aloys Huene of Litchfield, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Vincent “Pickles” Huene of Carlyle and Benedict Huene of Orlando, Fla., and one sister, Mrs. Helen Haukap of Highland.

Mr. Huene had resided in Highland where he was a truck driver and Amway distributor. He was a member of the Catholic Knights and Ladies of Illinois.

He also was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Bartelso where his funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) Rev. Ted Baumann officiated with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation was at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
