Death of William Ratermann Occurs Tuesday Night

Dies at Age of 73 Years: Death Occurred at his Home, 2 Miles West of this City

William Ratermann, well known and highly respected resident of Breese Township for many years, died at his home two miles west of Breese, at 11:30 o'clock p.m. Tuesday, November 2nd. He had reached the age of 73 years, 9 months and 22 days.

Death relieved him after an illness of several months duration. However he had always tried to be up and around, and cause as little trouble as possible. Only a short time ago he enjoyed himself in a family reunion at which time all his sons and families gathered at his home place. Family and individual pictures were taken, and Mr. Ratermann had the pleasure of being enabled to appear with his family and alone with his wife before the camera.

The deceased was born in Breese Township, one-half mile from the old homestead, which was the place of his death. At the latter mentioned place he lived 49 years.

In 1878 he was married to Miss Anna Richter. They have lived on the same farm ever since. Six children were born to them all boys, and all of whom survive. They are Fred of East St. Louis, and George, Ben, Henry, Wm. Geo. and Ferdinand, all of Breese Township.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, the six above named sons, one brother, Henry, 2 miles west of Breese, and 27 grandchildren.

He has always belonged to the St. Dominic's Church and was one of the esteemed and valued members. He was also a member of the Men's Sodality of that church.

The funeral services will be held at St. Dominic's Church. He will be interred in the St. Dominic Cemetery, west of Breese.
