Aged Resident Passes Away at The Home of Her Son Tuesday

Mrs. Anna Ratermann died at the home of her son Wm. G. Ratermann 3 miles north west of this city Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 20 days.

Mrs. Ratermann had been suffering for the past two weeks seriously ill and her death was caused by infirmities of old age.

She had been in good health until the death of her husband about two years ago, when grief and worry began to show on her and her health grew poor. She had been making her home with her son Ferdinand and family until six weeks ago when Mrs. Ferdinand Ratermann had to be taken to the local hospital and operated on, and the aged Mrs. Ratermann then went to the home of her son William where her death occurred, after the best of care and treatment had been administered.

Mrs. Ratermann was born on the old Richter farm, 1 mile west of Breese, her parents name being Richter. On May 14, 1878, she was united in marriage to Wm. Ratermann by Rev. Reineke in the local St. Dominic's Church. After their marriage they moved to the old homestead, now owned by Ferdinand. Her husband died there in November of 1926.

Six children were born to them, all of whom survive. They are: Fred of East St. Louis, and George, Ben M., Henry S., Wm. G., and Ferdinand, all living in and near Breese.

Besides the six sons, she leaves to mourn her departure, six daughters-in-law, three brothers, Wm. G., Hy. B., and Herman J. Richter, all of near Breese, a sister, Mrs. Mary Kampwerth and 29 grandchildren.
