He was a resident of Centralia, Marion County when he joined Co. I of the 111th Illinois Infantry on 15 Aug 1862 in Centralia. He died from disease on 12 Feb 1863 in Columbus, Kentucky at age 22, and is buried in Petrea Cemetery, Clinton Co.
