There is a notice in the St. Damian churchbook that Landolin Wangler was buried without the last rites. He wasn't a church-goer and did not pay for the church, so the Pastor refused a christian funeral "as a beneficial warning for the others". Landolin was buried "right at the gate, the first grave on the left side."
